About
Laura Seixas is a Portuguese film and TV director based in Canada with a passion for bold, character-driven storytelling. Her work spans television, film, and digital content, earning international recognition and multiple awards.
She is the co-creator of Dreaming Whilst Black (BBC3 / A24), the TV adaptation of the acclaimed UK web series. The webseries became a festival favorite, securing over 65 nominations and 36 wins, and her direction of the pilot earned her several awards.
Her ability to craft compelling narratives led her to direct Serpentina for Contado Por Mulheres, a prime-time anthology series for RTP produced by Ukbar Filmes (Turn of The Tide). She also recently filmed Salomé, a short film shot in New York, now in post-production.
A finalist in Directors UK’s Inspire mentoring program (2021), Laura continues to push creative boundaries. Most recently, she directed two episodes of the WWII thriller Broken Spies, starring Daniela Ruah, Maria João Bastos and Diogo Morgado, for the Portuguese National Television. The show has been officially selected for Berlinale 2025, marking another exciting milestone in her career.
